Moroccan Day After Session - Featured on Style Me Pretty

This post is a little delayed, but trust me it's worth the wait. I didn't want to post this amazing shoot until it was featured on Style Me Pretty, and then I  was so busy getting ready for a destination wedding in Mexico, that it was put off a little longer. I returned early this week from Mexico and now I'm ready to show you all the gorgeousness from our Moroccan Styled Day After Shoot with Kate Triano Photography.

Tram and Tiko were married this past fall and were Kate's 2010 wedding giveaway winners. They are so... sweet and a total joy to work with.  After chatting with them about the style of shoot, they wanted something different, exotic, and colorful.  Immediately a Moroccan theme emerged and I had the perfect fabrics to use from my recent trip to India. In the end I personally think we hit the nail on the head. Holly Chapple Flowers provided Tram and Tiko's flowers for their real wedding, so I thought it was perfect for Holly to be involved in creating the flowers for their day after shoot, and man did Holly deliver!  To read more info on the flowers used and all the little details swing on over to Style Me Pretty.

Kate Triano Photography and Holly Chapple Flowers each have amazing blog posts about this styled shoot with more drool worthy pics, so when you get a chance hop over to these amazing vendor's websites.  They won't disappoint!

Inspired Creations Contest - 80's School Love

I've been keeping these images under wraps for a week now and I'm so excited to share them today. The Inspired Creation Contest held by Ami at Elizabeth Anne Designs and Cyd at The Sweetest Occasion challenged wedding vendors to team up and create a unique wedding concept to inspire couples as they plan their event.  I couldn't resist and rushed to create a star-studded team of local DC vendors which included, Kate Triano Photography, Holly Chapple Flowers, and Paperzest. Other amazing vendors that contributed to the design included Unveiled Bridal Designs for the veil, Vintage Mama, a new dress designer on etsy, and  Julia Juliette who created the letterpresses coasters.

My absolute favorite part of the shoot was the "Boombox Love" guests book, where guests can leave message for the couple on their big day.

Here are some of the fabulous immages, but head over to The Sweetest Occasions Blog to see more, and post your love for the 80's.  We would love to win!

San Francisco Dream Wedding Giveaway! Vanessa and Mike are the Winners!

Happy Valentines Day everyone!

On Friday I had the honor of surprising an amazing couple (Vanessa and Mike) with great news! They were selected as the winning couple for the 2010 San Francisco Dream Wedding Giveaway and they truly deserve it. I was there with Kate Triano and Silk and Silver Productions to capture everything on film. Holly Chapple also donated a sunny uplifting bouquet for Vanessa!

The San Francisco Dream Wedding Giveaway is valued at $100,000, and a combined effort of over 40 amazing vendors from California. Some of the vendors include Lilia Photography, Nancy Liu Chin Designs, Hello!Lucky , Hotel Vitale, wedding planning service by the very giving Liz Guthrie of San Jose Wedding Consultants, the producer of the contest, and so many more.

Here is a little about the winning couple: Vanessa and Michael are both graduates from the Air Force Academy, Michael just returned from deployment, and Vanessa is fighting stage 4 cancer in Northern Virginia.  Luckily Vanessa was out of the hospital on Friday and staying at Mike's parents home, and Mike flew in for Valentines Day.

Vanessa and Mike are such a sweet and fun loving couple and it was pure joy to surprise them with the amazing news! Here are some great images Kate Triano captured.   How cute are Vanessa and Mike!   We wish them all the best.

Happy Valentines Day!

Site Visit - Shakespeare Theater's Sidney Harman Hall

The other day I had the opportunity to visit the Sidney Harman Hall located in the 19th century neighborhood of Penn Quarter.  The venue is just steps from Capitol attractions like the National Mall and the National Gallery of Art. The Orchestra and Mezzanine lobby areas are stunning open spaces with glass walls looking out over the Verizon Center. Both areas also have built in bars and flat screen TVs that are perfect to display video clips of the bride and groom.  They even have cool show listing signs outside the theater that can be changed to welcome guests or have pictures of the newlyweds.

This space would be ideal for 150 guests where you could have cocktails on the Orchestra level, a seated dinner on the Mezzanine level, and then back to Orchestra for dancing, lounge space and of course the wedding cake.

Here are some images I took. They were setting up props that day so disregard the armor.

One of my favorite local photographers, Kate Triano, shot a stunning wedding there in 2008. Below are some of her images.

Day After Shoot - Lemon's in the Fall captured by Kate Triano

We're in love with these images from a day after session of newlyweds, Nicolette and Chris. This cute couple was married September 26th 2009, but since they were blessed with rain on their big day, they wanted a few more shots in the beautiful fall weather. This shoot took place on a crisp day near the Hendry House in Arlington and the lighting was just stunning. Nicollete loves knitting and brought the perfect gray knit blanket she made and a lovely yellow scarf, and isn't that vespa with a side-car the cutest thing ever?
